Guides
Resume guides by role
Each guide is written for one job. It says what a reader in that field looks for first, how to write the experience, and what to leave off. More roles are added one at a time.
- Resume for a software engineer
A hiring manager skims for what you shipped and whether it matches this team. The title line should name the kind of engineer the posting wants. The bullets should name the system, what you changed, and the result you can defend.
- Resume for a nurse
A nurse manager reads for license, unit, and whether you have done this patient population. Put those facts where they can be seen without scrolling. Write only the certifications and the license you hold today.
- Resume for an accountant
Accounting resumes are checked for credential status and for the work inside the close. Say whether you are licensed, a candidate, or neither. Then show the close, the reconciliations, and the standards you applied.
- Resume for a project manager
Project management resumes fail when they list ceremonies and tools instead of the delivery. Name what shipped, the constraint you worked inside, and the part that was yours. State a method or a certificate only when you used it or you hold it.
